Try Beginner-Friendly AI Tools
There are hundreds of AI tools. You need three. Here's what to try first — and the one starter task for each that shows you what it's actually for.
Which AI tool should I start with?
Start with a general-purpose chat assistant. It's the Swiss Army knife of AI — good at almost everything, and where 90% of your value will come from.
1. SynaBot — your all-in-one starting point
Best for: everything. Writing, planning, learning, brainstorming, decisions.
Starter task: "Plan my week. Ask me 5 questions first, then give me a realistic day-by-day plan."
2. ChatGPT or Claude — the household names
Best for: long conversations, deeper reasoning, coding help.
Starter task: "Explain like I'm 12."
3. An AI image tool (like Midjourney, Ideogram, or ChatGPT's image mode)
Best for: making a picture appear out of nothing. Genuinely delightful.
Starter task: "A watercolor painting of my dream weekend cottage, cozy morning light."
How to test any AI tool in 5 minutes
- Give it a real task you'd normally do yourself — not a test question.
- Judge the answer honestly. Would you actually use this?
- Follow up twice. How well does it handle "make it shorter" and "try it more casual"?
- Ask a curveball. Something outside its obvious lane.
If it passes all four, keep it. If not, move on. There's no loyalty prize.
You do not need a paid plan on day one
Every tool above has a free tier that's plenty for learning. Upgrade only when you catch yourself thinking "I'd use this even more if the free limit weren't in the way." That's the real signal.
