Research the market
Ask the assistant for salary ranges in your role, level, location and industry. Cross-check with levels.fyi, Glassdoor or Payscale.

Set three numbers
Walk-away, target, and stretch. Never enter a negotiation with only one number in your head.

Draft the ask
Prompt: "Write a 3-line script for asking for [target] on top of the offer of [offer], grounded in [reason]."

Rehearse the pushbacks
"You're the hiring manager. Push back on this ask. Give me three most-likely objections and I'll answer each one."

Ask in writing so they can approve without pressure, then follow up on a call.
