How to write your quarterly self-review with AI

Turn 90 days of scattered wins into a self-review that lands the promotion or the raise.

Guide curated and reviewed byMark Barclay

Before you start

  • A record of the quarter (calendar, docs, Slack)
  • Your goals from the start of the quarter

Tools you'll use

  • SynaBot
  • ChatGPT

Steps

  1. 1

Dump every win from the quarter

Bullet-list every project, launch, save, positive customer moment, mentor moment. Don't filter.

  2. 2

    Group them against your goals

Feed the assistant your Q-start OKRs and the wins. Ask it to map each win to a goal.

  3. 3

    Quantify everything you can

"For each win, propose a metric that captures its impact." Where you have a real number, use it; where you don't, make an honest estimate.

  4. 4

    Draft the narrative

Prompt: "Turn this into a 400-word self-review with: (1) headline impact, (2) three biggest wins with metrics, (3) one honest area for growth, (4) what I want next quarter."

  5. 5

    Ask for the manager's objections

"Play my skeptical manager. What would you push back on?" Fix the weakest parts before submitting.

What you'll have at the end

A quantified, honest self-review ready to submit — with the weakest arguments already fixed.
